Coin Pinger · effective 20 July 2026

Short version: your microphone audio never leaves your device, and neither do your own calibrated coins. To improve the preset references, the app sends anonymous results for preset coins (frequencies, tolerances, size, and match/no-match) — the numbers only, never audio — and you can turn that off. We also use Google Analytics for aggregate traffic, never to identify or track individual people.

Microphone

Coin Pinger uses your device's microphone to listen to a coin's ring while you tap it. The audio is analyzed live, in your browser, to measure resonance frequencies and decay. It is never recorded, saved, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere, and it is discarded moment to moment as it is processed. The microphone is only active while you are on a listening screen and have granted permission; your browser controls that permission and you can revoke it at any time.

What is stored

The only data the app saves is your reference coin library (the names, frequencies, weights, and dimensions you calibrate or import). This is stored in your browser's local storage on your device only. It is never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data, or deleting references in the app, removes it. Share links and exported files are created only when you explicitly tap Share or Export, and they contain only the reference data you chose to share.

Coin samples we collect

To make the preset coin references more accurate, Coin Pinger collects anonymous acoustic samples — the measured numbers only, never audio. There are two ways this happens:

These samples are stored in our database (Cloudflare D1) and used only to analyze and improve the reference data. We don't sell them or use them to identify you. Your approximate country (from your IP, which we do not store) and browser/microphone identifiers may be included for debugging; they are not linked to any account.

Analytics

Coin Pinger uses Google Analytics 4 across the app and website to measure aggregate traffic — such as page and screen views, approximate region, device and browser type, and referring links — so we can understand how the product is used and improve it. This is used purely for traffic analysis to better the product; it is never used to identify, profile, or track individual people, and it never includes your microphone audio or your reference coin library, which are processed entirely on your device. Google sets analytics cookies and processes this data on our behalf; see Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out with Google's opt-out add-on or your browser's privacy controls.

What is NOT collected

No accounts. No advertising. No sale of data. No personal information, precise location, or contacts. Your microphone audio and your own calibrated coin library are processed entirely on your device and never leave it. Apart from the aggregate traffic analytics and the anonymous preset-coin samples described above — both of which you can turn off — no data is collected.

Children & changes

The app is a general-audience utility and collects no data from anyone, including children. If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated and the revised policy posted at this page.
